I’m an artist, that’s the overview. But here's the basic intel about me...
I'm a professional artist, potter, painter, and mixed-media visual artist, an enthusiastic student of organizational and cultural development, and proud Montana native. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Communication and Fine Art from Montana State University – Billings. I've continued my educational pursuits by taking classes from amazing artists whenever I can, and by enrolling in leadership courses through the prestigious Leadership Montana Program. I paint, teach classes, make sweet, fun things out of clay, and paper, and metal, and wood, and I try to use my art to create conversational connections.
I've had a diverse career serving in rewarding roles such as Business Development Specialist/Program Director for the Montana Arts Council, Development Officer for the Montana Tech Foundation, and Executive Director for Safe Space, a domestic violence program. Within my work for the arts in Montana, I provided professional development training to artists throughout the state and administered the acclaimed Montana Artrepreneur Program and Montana’s Circle of American Masters traditional crafts program. I've served as a board member for various non-profit organizations such as Human Resources District XII and the Montana Association of Symphony Orchestras. In addition to my participation in Leadership Montana, I have completed Gracious Space training and have been a Certified Gracious Space Affiliate.
I believe that human communication is tricky under good circumstances and that the power of art can be harnessed in helping us find connections in an ever-increasingly fractured nation. I challenge us all to ask important questions of each other, and of ourselves, with ideas propelled by what we see in art and how we feel. I'm interested in finding ways to move thoughts and conversations to meaningful places through the consideration of edges, illumination, and texture and the visual representation of conflict, corrosion, and compassion. My invitation stands for us to dig deep into our collective experiences and current commitments within our cultural and political landscape and find better ways to connect. We can do better. We must do better. Art can help.
Thank you for your interest in my work and in my story.
